At Raise My House, we’re no strangers to innovative and challenging projects. Our latest endeavor in Bardon is a testament to the unique solutions we bring to the table. We’ve received a lot of questions about this exciting project, so we’re taking you behind the scenes to share all the details!
This isn’t your typical construction project. In Bardon, two character-listed homes are being transformed as part of a commercial development to create a childcare center with an adjoining carpark. Due to their heritage status, these houses couldn’t be knocked down. Instead, the only viable option was to raise them and build underneath—a perfect example of combining preservation with progress.
The Challenge: Raising Homes for a New Build
Both houses have been lifted a staggering 2.5 meters above their final floor level. Why so high? This clearance is essential to allow for the construction of a suspended concrete slab that will join the two houses. Once the slab is completed, the houses will be carefully lowered back onto their new foundations, ready for the next phase of the build.
While the raised homes are an impressive sight, much of the action is happening below ground. Civil infrastructure work is underway, laying the groundwork for the suspended slab and future development. This phase requires precision and expertise to ensure a solid and safe base for the entire structure.
At Raise My House, safety is at the heart of everything we do. Every project is engineered to meet the highest safety standards and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. For this project, we’ve employed our innovative telescopic post method, a solution that allows for houses to be securely raised while creating space for construction underneath.
With over 150 homes raised annually and more than a decade of experience, this project is a natural fit for our team. Since 2010, we’ve been perfecting our techniques, ensuring every project—big or small—is executed with precision and care.

Over the next 3–4 months, the suspended slab will be completed, and the houses will be lowered onto their new foundation. From there, the builder will take over to finish the project, transforming these historic homes into a modern childcare center.
Stay tuned as we continue to share updates on this groundbreaking project. It’s a true showcase of innovation, expertise, and the balance between preserving history and building for the future.
